As part of the coronation celebrations the King and Queen Consort have recognised 500 volunteers in conjunction with the Royal Voluntary Service.

The Coronation Champions Awards invited people across the UK to nominate their local volunteers who go the extra mile to support their community. Over 5,000 nominations were received across 8 categories.

It was announced on 25th April by Dame Judi Dench that our CEO and founder Gail Millar was to receive one of the prestigious awards.

Gail was nominated by one of our Befriended clients in thanks for the support given to them by Gail and Befriended.

Gail received a signed certificate from their Majesties King and Queen Consort and an official unique Coronation Champions Pin Badge.

“I am absolutely delighted and humbled at being recognised as a Coronation Champion. Volunteering is a team effort and together we make a huge difference to the lives of others.  Befriended and all befriended offers, happens because of so many wonderful people who give of their time and talents.  I receive this award on behalf of all of us.  Thank you.
